Measure your wall space first — not just the width, but the depth. A wardrobe needs at least 50 cm of depth for clothes to hang properly. Check the door swing too: full-length doors need clearance in front, which matters in tighter rooms.
Think about what you’re actually storing. If most of your wardrobe is hanging items — dresses, suits, shirts — prioritise rail height. If you have a lot of folded clothes and accessories, drawers matter more than rail length. Most people need both.
And think about the finish. White MDF makes a small room feel lighter. A wood tone adds warmth but can make a compact space feel more enclosed. Neither is wrong — it depends on what your room needs.
Two Options Worth Looking At
If folded clothes are the main problem, the WD-113 (R1,427) is worth considering. It’s 80 cm wide with a full-length hanging rail and four drawers built into the base — the drawers handle everything that usually ends up on the chair. Waterproof MDF, flatpack, assembles in about an hour.
If the room feels small and you want it to feel more open, the WD-112 (R1,639) is the better fit. Same 80 cm width, white MDF, 165 cm tall. Upper shelf for seasonal storage, full-length rail, bottom section for shoes. It does what it needs to do without drawing attention to itself.
The Chair Test
Here’s a simple way to know if your bedroom storage is working: look at the chair. If it’s holding clothes, your wardrobe isn’t doing its job — not because you’re disorganised, but because there’s nowhere better for those clothes to go.
Sort the storage, and the chair becomes a chair again. The bedroom starts to feel like a room you want to be in, not a room you’re always meaning to tidy. That’s what the right wardrobe actually does.
